Pag Island is one of the largest islands of the Adriatic: with a surface area of 285 km2 it is the fifth largest island, and its 270 km of indented coastline make it the island with the longest coastline of the Adriatic.
Pag is unique for its vegetation habitat in which there are almost no trees. Pag is the largest kingdom of rocky ground of the Adriatic crisscrossed by long stone walls, where thin grass, low aromatic herbs, sage and immortelle grow.
These aromatic herbs are the basic food of Pag sheep in the rocky pastures, and the herbs ensure the distinctive flavour of Pag cheese.
